"I hope you will go out and let stories happen to you, and that you will work them, water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom. " ~Clarissa Pinkola Estes

hello goodbye

Dear 2012,

Thank you. Challenges were given; lessons were learned. You were not easy and you made me cry. A lot. But beauty abounded in those tears. Strength was gained. Life was lived. We tried new things. We wrote. We danced. We made music, gave up music, and then made music again. Yes, 2012, you were both dark and light... and that is the way of things.

2013, you and I are going places. We're going to be feeling, living, loving loudly. No more dancing around the edges. We're taking a big, glorious swan dive and then soaring into flight. We're going to shimmy and shake it loose, and be wildly glorious and free. The biggest, best Me that ever was. Ready?

Set....

Go!

be marvelous

Time to get wild. Messy. Marvelous. Be vocal and free. Cast aside the ties that bind. Smile as big as the sea; have the biggest, deepest belly laughs. Wear your heart on your sleeve. Shake loose all that is frozen inside. Find that fervid ache within and turn it inside out.

Feel.

Feel.

Feel.

And love.

to be real

“What is REAL?" asked the Velveteen Rabbit one day... "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"
"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When [someone] loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.
"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."
"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"
"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't often happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept.
"Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand... once you are Real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always.”

ebb & flow

Let’s play this one out, until it explodes
Into a thousand tiny pieces
What’s the story universe
You are melody in numbers
You were shapes you were rhythms
There are signs that we can learn
Place over the heavens
To predict how long we’ll burn
How long will I last?
Can you turn up the heat?
What star am I circling?
What’s circling me?
Am I ebb, am I flow?
My lack of control
Turn it on, turn it up
Say yes, play no

Things keep changing
Things keep changing
Things keep changing
